NFS Underground 2 crash or black screen

Causes the wiki already lists

  • More than one GPU or monitor can crash the load. PCGamingWiki records that.
  • Several CPU cores can crash the shop transition. The same page says a single-core affinity avoids it. The widescreen pack’s INI exposes SingleCoreAffinity.
  • Custom keys can reset after Vista. That is a settings loss, not a black screen.
  • Effect flicker on Windows 7 and 10, and particle stutter on Windows 10, are listed as visual bugs rather than hard crashes.

After the widescreen pack

ThirteenAG’s NFSU2 pack is the usual widescreen route: dinput8.dll and a scripts folder in the game directory. Its tracker includes issue 1573 for a black screen and issue 1649 for Windows 11 24H2. Read those threads before you add Extra Options. A video by Ajay TechFlow (YouTube 9XXESYopQPE) walks through a black screen after the patch; the exact upload day was not copied into this research, so it is linked rather than given a VideoObject date.

I pulled the crash notes from PCGamingWiki and from ThirteenAG issue numbers. I did not reproduce each one on Windows 11.

Questions

Should I install every mod at once?

No. PCGamingWiki and the mod pages put 1.2 first, then the widescreen pack, then Extra Options. A black screen after a car pack means you skipped that order.

Is this the browser black screen?

No. A browser tab that never starts is on the browser-load page.
