NFS Underground 2 LAN not working
Three checks
- Both PCs are on one LAN or on a VPN that behaves like one. UPnP is not available, per PCGamingWiki, so a router will not open the game for you.
- UDP 3658 is allowed in the firewall on both sides. That port is the one PCGamingWiki and nfsu2.net both list.
- You are in URL mode if you expect six cars. Other modes stop at four. A fifth player in a non-URL room is over the documented cap.
If you are not on the retail LAN
A browser room will never appear in the retail LAN browser. Open the multiplayer page and pick the column you actually joined. Community server ports from moio9/NFS-Online-Server change between README versions; do not reuse 3658 for that project unless its current file says so.
I stayed with the port and the player caps that two write-ups share. I did not packet-capture a failed lobby.

Questions
Hamachi used to work. Does it still?
NFS-Planet mentioned it in 2006 as a P2P workaround. Whether a current Hamachi network still passes UDP 3658 was not retested here.
The game crashes when I open the LAN menu.
That is a launch bug, not an empty room. Use the black-screen page.
