NFS Underground 2 on PS2

The online service

VideoGamer’s 2006-08-07 report said the August 2006 EA shutdown did not include the PS2 version and that PS2 players were probably still online then. GamesIndustry’s later round placed NFS Underground 2 for PC and PS2 on the 2007-11-01 list. Wikipedia’s single date of 2006-08-01 for every platform does not match those two articles.

Playing it now

PCSX2 is a free emulator. Its site listed 2.8.0 as current when checked via the project page reference on 2026-10-28. You supply your own BIOS.
NetherSX2 is an Android branch of PCSX2 and also needs a BIOS and a disc image you own.
nfsunderground2.site is a browser port with two-player rooms. It is not Sony’s old service and not Insignia.

I kept the PS2 shutdown date on the 2007 list because the 2006 articles said PS2 was excluded. Insignia does not apply to this console.

Small screen night driving — Phone still, 2026-10-22. It is not a PS2 console capture.

Older multiplayer tutorial frame — Older tutorial frame used as a visual, not as a PS2 online proof.
